Our Story

Dutch Mill Nursery was founded in 1961 by Irene and John Lommerse in Sanford, Florida. John immigrated to the United States from the Netherlands after World War II, and together they later moved from Michigan to Central Florida with a determination to build something of their own.

Key Milestones

What began as a small retail nursery serving the local community steadily grew through long hours, persistence, and a commitment to quality. As demand increased, Dutch Mill gradually transitioned from retail sales to a wholesale bedding plant operation, focusing on supplying strong, dependable annual flowers to nurseries, landscapers, and commercial projects throughout Central Florida.

Their four children continued building the business, expanding production and strengthening relationships with customers across the region. Today, Dutch Mill Nursery is proudly entering its third generation of family leadership.
